At the end of last September, The gorgeous bride, Emily, married her soul mate, James at Buxted Park Hotel. And the talented Sarah Wenban was on hand to capture the moments of the day so beautifully.
I was recommended to Emily through James’ cousin, who also happens to be an old school friend of mine. Opportunities of this nature don’t come around that often and the fact that I could be there to look after this lovely family on such an important day made this a particularly special day for me.
There was a particularly large bridal party to get ready for proceedings. Aside from Emily, there was her lovely sister, Lucy, and their mother requiring hair and makeup as well as 6 bridesmaids hair to style also. I roped in an extra pair of skilled hands to assist me on the day in the form of the lovely Vanessa and we both set off for from North London to Sussex at 6.30am.
The grounds of Buxted park are just breath-taking and Emily and James couldn’t have asked for a sunnier day to tie the knot on.
The natural light pouring in from the big windows in the bridal suite meant I couldn’t have asked for better light conditions to apply makeup in and these windows provided the best views over the stunning landscape of Buxted park and the surrounding countryside.
The bridal suite was not only beautiful but very spacious to accommodate the adult members of the bridal party as well as the little ones, but also the comings and goings of family members and close friends popping in to say hello.
The atmosphere that morning was truly lovely and heartwarming which made the hours fly by; before I knew it, it was 11am and time to put on Emily’s veil.
We chose a cooler palette for Emily’s eye makeup, consisting of smokey greys and silvers along with big lashes and then just an understated slick of tinted lipgloss to keep her eyes as the main focus. Her base was kept light to keep the overall look natural and allow her gorgeous freckles to come through.
Emily has very fine hair and although at the trial we worked with her own hair, she decided that for her wedding day she was going to treat herself to some hair extensions. On the wedding day, we stuck to the original plan and just simply had more hair to work with. I created a deep side parting to give her wedding day hairstyle a bit more of a glam factor. Her hair was curled and swept to the side to create even more volume and show off her new locks in the best possible way, and by doing so we kept the overall style structured enough to last the day; to withstand the elements during photos outside as well as the antics on the dance floor later!
Emily, thank you so much for allowing me to be part of your special day and I couldn’t be more grateful for our friendship that has blossomed since. Wishing you, James, and those divine children of yours, the happiest of lives together.
