If you’re having a Winter wedding, it’s not always as easy to choose things like hairstyle; as inspiration boards on the internet and in glossy magazines tend to be saturated with soft, floaty, Summer type hairstyles for Brides and Bridesmaids. So… what should you do with your hair?
We’ve been looking back at the best trends from this Autumn/Winter and found some perfect options for a seasonal take on wedding hair; that although aren’t far off the Summer looks, have that little extra something to give you an edge over those Summer bride-to-be’s.
For those who think Autumn and Winter is all about the rigid look, we’ve got news for you! Beach waves are still in – with a twist (get it?!) Introducing the ‘flat wave’ or ‘middle wave’. Beach waves are usually created with a conical wand, but for this more interesting take on them, all you need is a flat iron or hair straightener. The idea is that the ends of your hair are left straight while the middle is given a smooth curl. Perfect examples of this are Fendi and Max-Mara on the Catwalk this Winter season.
Wearing your hair down with volume is back! Yay! This is such a versatile and easy to manage look, that no wonder it’s a firm favourite any season.
Okay, so maybe the hair braid is a little too Summery for your taste – so how about hair embellishments? Han Wen featured some pearl embellishments on the catwalk for AW/17 which had a wonderfully abstract cool look about them. If you’re not into pearls then diamantes are always a popular choice, or even lace and ribbon can be used to evoke that romantic feel.
Twists were featured a lot in the summer and are definitely still trendy for the winter months, so if you are considering wearing your hair up, then soften it with a couple of side twists, finished with wisps of hair to frame your face.
Last but certainly not least, who can resist a bit of retro! If you have a slightly vintage style dress, then it’s a lovely extra detail to add a vintage look to the hair too. Loose victory curls and soft quiffs can be very effective as a wedding hairstyle. Don’t forget to add that classic red lipstick look to complete your Winter Wedding retro look.
